Medical Mission and 2006 Goals

Water sanitation problem is the root of many communicable diseases in developing countries. There fore every attempt of Relief Network Ministries to provide portable water to a community is an attempt to alleviate myriads sickness and disease in that community. The well water projects constitute the foundation of Relief Network Medical program.

The Medical Outreach to villages emphasizes treatment of acute and chronic illnesses without cost to the communities involved. We also teach water sanitation methods during such outreaches.  The  medical outreach is a popular mission because it addresses the immediate medical needs of the people. It also presents a ready audience for the infusion our religious belief in the saving grace of Jesus Christ, the overriding reason for our mission.

We plan two medical mission trips to Nigeria this year. The first trip will be in the first week of February and the second will be between September and November this year. The second trip will be a collaborative effort with Dr Stuart Quartemont of Medical Missions International. Working with Dr Quartemont will expand our activity from primary and preventive medicine to surgical services. The impact of such joint effort will be much greater.

Advancement in modern medicine is facilitated by innovations in medical technology in diagnostics, therapeutics and automated patient monitoring.  We recognize that developing countries cannot readily acquire advanced medical technology because of  lack of capital.  In an effort to help in this area we have obtained some used medical equipment and supplies that we plan to distribute to tertiary medical facilities in southern Nigeria.  We will also organize in-service workshops on the use of those equipments.

This will be a year of increase in our medical program. We commit our effort to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
