Project Trips / Plans
[Home] [Main]
Summer 2002 July-August
Preparations are steadily getting underway for next summer
outreach trips to Nigeria in our 3-5 year program plan before we ship to the
next African country on our list of targeted third world countries.
Although there is no war in Nigeria today, the level of
religious (Muslim-Christian conflicts) and political instability that was the
norm a few years ago have taken a big toll on the economic and social life of the people,
thus leaving a majority in abject poverty. Many Nigerian rural community
dwellers cannot afford to feed their children with more than one meal a day with
very unsanitary drinking water to use. Listening to some of them these days, one
could sense their day dreams of airplanes dropping foods to alleviate the
apparent starvation and suffering among them, provided they don't hear any bomb
strikes like in Afghanistan.
The drill
team is going for training at Quantum Lakes in Texas, February 20-23 conducted
by Living Water International. Volunteers are still need for Health &
Sanitation training of rural people in personal hygiene and basic sanitation.
Women are particularly gracious at rendering this service, especially those with
medical or nursing background.
